Google: Responsive Design Doesn't Get Better Ranking Directly

For a long time I’ve seen the debate rage over SEO and responsive design. Finally a definitive answer — No, responsive design does not directly translate to better ranking. Fortunately they also point out that responsive is still the preferred approach over multiple URL’s or serving dynamic content based on other factors.

We know Google demotes non mobile friendly web sites in smartphone search results. But for some reason, there is a debate if Google gives a ranking boost to responsive design sites over other mobile formatted sites that deploy Google’s best practices.
